Preservation Award Criteria & Process: 2018 Excellence in Preservation Award

Preservation Award Criteria & Process
The “Excellence in Preservation Award” recognizes the recent restoration, rehabilitation, or adaptive reuse of a building, structure, or object which exemplifies a high regard for the resource’s historical integrity.

The Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy criteria are as follows:

  • The building’s exterior is the focus.
  • The project must be completed.
  • A current photo is required.  Before and after photographs are desirable.  Likewise, any history of the building–such as original or past use, owners, builders, architects or materials–is appreciated. Archival photos can be obtained by calling the Jersey City Tax Assessor at (201) 547-5131.
  • A desire to adhere to Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation are not binding. Learn more about these standards: https://www.nps.gov/tps/standards/rehabilitation/rehab/guide.htm
