Sidewalk Stories Podcast Launches in Jersey City!

Episode #102: Persistence and Place with Charlene Burke — AVAILABLE NOW!

Through these conversations, I’m discovering that Jersey City’s true landmarks aren’t just its buildings, but the remarkable people who’ve shaped its identity across generations.
— Nathalie Kalbach, Founder and Content Creator of Sidewalk Stories

First Episodes

The first episode introducing the podcast concept is available now. Episode 102 (April 10) features Charlene Burke discussing her journey in community advocacy and how one persistent voice can make a difference in neighborhood preservation. Future episodes include Kelly Carroll on community-based preservation approaches and Jin Jung discussing her WERE HERE project placing ceramic markers at historically significant sites around Jersey City.

What to Expect

While historic preservation is certainly one theme explored in the podcast, the show's focus is broader – examining the intersection of place, community, art, and storytelling. Upcoming episodes will feature artists, community organizers, small business owners, and every day people who are all contributing to the fabric of Jersey City and similar urban communities.

After each podcast episode, complementary content will be made available on the Sidewalk Stories Substack that digs deeper into the conversations – sometimes through additional research, sometimes through artwork created and inspired by the stories shared.
