Courtesy of John Gomez for the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy, 2024

  • Event date: November 9, 2024, 1-3 PM, with a rain date for November 16, 2024, 1-3 PM.

  • Meet at 12:45 PM outside The OLC School, 248 Marin Boulevard at York Street, in the Paulus Hook Historic District in Downtown Jersey City.

  • RSVP required as attendance will be capped at 40 people. This is a FREE event thanks to our generous and community-minded sponsors!

  • From draft riots to urban renewal, we will walk through Jersey City’s historic Paulus Hook and bring its history alive with preservation advocate John Gomez, founder of the non-profit Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy and 20-year architecture and preservation columnist for The Jersey Journal.

  • This interactive walking tour has been curated with adults in mind and will take approximately two hours. Children are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. Please wear comfortable shoes, appropriate clothing for what could be a brisk November afternoon, and bring water! We will be documenting the event and images might be used for archival purposes on the HPHA and partner social media channels.

  • Post-Tour Event: Wind down after the tour with the planning team at Greene Hook at 70 Greene Street in Paulus Hook! Enjoy a snack on us, courtesy of Greene Hook! Drinks are on you!

Organized and sponsored by the Historic Paulus Hook Association in close partnership with the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy, the Jersey City Free Public Library, and the Museum of Jersey City History, with generous support from the New Jersey Council for the Humanities.
