Opening Reception: Drawings of Hoboken: Changing and Enduring Places by Darren Kall at the Hoboken Historical Museum

The Hoboken Historical Museum is elated to share about our upcoming exhibit by Darren Kall in the Upper Gallery! You may recognize Darren from his work in creating the iconic Hoboken Poster, which depicts the west side of Washington Street in 1986. The museum has a framed copy in our walkway!

Darren's new exhibit Drawings of Hoboken: Changing and Enduring Places pays homage to the unique urban landscape of our city, and is a joyful continuation of his work in the Hoboken Poster. The exhibit consists of 15 black and white ink drawings that capture not just storefronts on Washington Street, but also ornate residential buildings that showcase our city’s exquisite architecture, along with beloved community hubs. Some places remain, such as the Madison. Others are long gone, such as Cafe Louis.

Darren’s work reminds us about the ephemeral nature of life. Change is constant, but love for community always remains.

Drawings of Hoboken: Changing and Enduring Places by Darren Kall will be on display from September 8-October 27, 2024. All are invited for the Opening Reception on Sunday, September 8 from 2pm-5pm at HHM.
