Mayoral Forum on Historic Preservation and the Environment

The Embankment Preservation Coalition and the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy have created this opportunity for the 2025 mayoral candidates to publicly express their vision for our City as we grapple locally with human-caused climate change, the legacy of industrialization, and the effects of current rapid redevelopment on historic resources and local character.

Six Jersey City residents have publicly declared their intention to run for mayor in the November 2025 election. They are Mussab Ali, Flash Gordon, Jim McGreevey, Bill O’Dea, James Solomon, and Joyce Watterman. Of these, the first five have accepted our invitation to participate in this forum.

A question-and-answer session with the candidates will be moderated by Margaret Schmidt, former editor of the Jersey Journal. An opportunity for social interaction with the candidates will follow the in-person meeting.

The Q&A session will be recorded and the recording made accessible to the public.

The Embankment Preservation Coalition and the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy are nonprofit charitable organizations and do not endorse candidates for public office.
